UNESCO needs your help to shape Regional Youth Spaces

Continuez, ce questionnaire est aussi en français! / Ya viene en Español !]
We want to imagine and design with you, Regional Youth Spaces (RYS). These will enable, facilitate and support young partners and leaders around the world to work on the social and cultural issues that matter to you, and which align with UNESCO’s mandate. We don't intend to 'reinvent the wheel', and so partnering, and building up will be important. We already received some great ideas from the UNESCO 10th Youth Forum, and now we want to widen out our research/planning.

To date UNESCO has not done enough to support both formal and informal networks of young people. We have not challenged ourselves to fully acknowledge and embrace young women and men’s capabilities on sustainable development and peace issues that matter to all of us. With this in mind, UNESCO will be developing / opening up youth spaces in all regions of the world (Regional Youth Spaces – RYS) for an initial period of 4 years (2018-2021). You can find out more about UNESCO’s broad plans to work with Youth in UNESCO’s Operational Strategy on Youth (2014-2021).
What are the initial ideas?
The objectives of the Regional Youth Spaces (RYS) could be to:
a. Enable young people to come together at a (sub-)regional level to discuss and address the issues that are most affecting them
b. Exchange, inspire and interact with each other to discuss and address the issues affecting them
c. Present inspiring (connected) projects
 d. Scale up innovative projects in the relevant (sub-)region that best address the issues impacting youth
e. Develop relationships between youth and UNESCO to best tackle local challenges.

The spaces (intellectual, physical and/or online) are currently funded to operate during a period of 4 years (2018-2021). While they could include different forms of initiatives (events, fora, workshops, trainings, online discussions, dialogue workshops etc.), depending on (sub-)regional contexts, they are likely to combine a set of basic characteristics, namely that:
a. They are co designed by youth for youth;
b. They foresee online engagement for youth interaction, besides possible offline engagement;
c. They are supported through global communications enabling the different initiatives to feed into each other.
Let’s begin…
We want to hear from you (and your friends - so go ahead to share this survey with them) about your ideas as to what these Regional Youth Spaces should be, and how they could operate. Please think carefully, and don’t feel constrained by what you think a big organization wants to hear.So go ahead and fill in this survey, which will be open until 15 February included.
